After embracing a healthy lifestyle as a way to manage the stress of a young(ish) mother to two young girls (Leila, born 2006 and Alena, born 2008), I realized that my dharma was to help others find the same sense of peace stemming from leading a physically fit lifestyle.
The first vessel that I found was running. I ran some half marathons and eventually marathons, because the long lonely training runs gave me time alone with my thoughts. I didn’t realize it at the time, but training for a marathon was my first foray into meditation.
Since then, I have completed numerous long distance events, middle distance events and triathlons. I because a certified running coach with The Running Room and then joined the coaching team with the Atlantic Canada Chapter of Team in Training. With TNT, I earned a certification by running legend Jack Daniels, PhD, in San Diego, June 2012. I have trained over 100 individuals to complete events of all distances.
In 2012, I began my 200RYT training with Breathing Space Yoga Studio. Shortly after, I realized that the next step of my personal journey required a big step outside of my comfort zone as a part-time student, full-time mom. My husband and I decided to embark on our biggest adventure yet, and began planning to open Breathing Space Yoga and Wellness Centre in downtown Halifax. The Wellness Studio will open in the fall of 2013 and is the first of its kind here in our beautiful city.
